I’m certain you’ve listened by now that some are observant that a end of a world will take place today, May 21, during precisely 6 p.m.– that’s internal time wherever we occur to be, in box you’re formulation a cookout. This means that you’ll be means watch a drop sputter a approach opposite a creation until it reaches you. Oh, happy day.
The one touting a world’s demise this time is Harold Camping, a 89-year-old Christian fundamentalist and co-founder of Family Radio Network, who, by a way, pronounced a same thing would occur in 1994, and when it didn’t, he pronounced that he contingency have computed wrongly. His certainty this time is once again formed on his Byzantine calculations about floods and numbers in a Bible that not even Einstein would be means to decipher. He also points to a new proliferation of earthquakes and tornados as a pointer that we’re on a final legs. Oh, and let’s not forget a combined indignity that happy people are thriving. That’s another revealing pointer for him that a finish is imminent.

The usually problem with Camping’s Biblical prophecy is that it isn’t really Biblical. The one certain thing that a Bible says about a finish time is that we won’t know when it’s coming. It will arrive like a burglar in a night, startling everyone. Obviously Camping and his supporters consider they’re arcane to insider information that Jesus Himself confidently would never be given.
Historically, these kinds of end-of-the-world predictions seem to spike in times of financial hardship and tellurian crisis. No evidence that we are positively assembly that criterion. However, some-more than vigilant on fulfilling predictions, those adhering to these theories seem to be attempting to equivocate pang or death. To be swept adult in a Rapture means that you’re expelled from this dale of tears. Swept adult to sky in a blink of an eye. So most for Jesus observant that we need to take adult a crosses. This is to contend zero of a fact that usually 144,000 are presumably going to be saved. That’s one healthy retard in Brooklyn! Thus withdrawal a lot of righteous-minded Christians wondering where they went wrong.
Now, we don’t like to expel aspersions on anyone’s beliefs. But when sacrament gives approach to fear mongering that insults a God-given intelligence, it needs to be called out for what it is: bad Biblical interpretation and bad theology. The universe might in fact finish some day, though we know not a day or a hour. One thing we do know however is that all of a worlds will in fact finish one day. That’s why, as Kris Allen sings, “we gotta live like were dying.” Because we will. we only don’t consider that it’s going to occur this Saturday. But, hey, I’ve been wrong before.
